Membership, Communications & Project Support (Casual Contract)

  • Hours: Approx. 3 hours per week (up to 156 hours per year across 52 weeks)

  • Hourly Rate:$40 per hour (excl. GST, if applicable)

  • Contract Requirement: Must hold a valid ABN

  • Working Arrangement: Fully remote

About the Role

Ability Agriculture is seeking a reliable and organised individual to provide membership and communications support, with occasional project support as required.

This is a consistent, low‑hour remote role (approx. 3 hours/week) focused primarily on:

  • Managing member communication and enquiries

  • Supporting social media and newsletter delivery

Project work will be ad hoc and communications‑focused, and is not the core responsibility of the role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Membership Support(Primary focus)

  • Respond to membership enquiries via email and communication channels

  • Support onboarding of new members

  • Maintain and update membership records

  • Assist with member communications, updates, and follow‑ups

2. Communications Support(Primary focus)

  • Draft and schedule social media content across:

    • LinkedIn

    • Facebook

    • Instagram

  • Support development and distribution of member newsletters

  • Assist in preparing clear, plain‑English communications

  • Maintain consistency in tone, messaging, and accessibility

3. Project Support(Occasional / secondary)

  • Provide light, communications‑focused support to projects where needed

  • Assist with preparing summaries, posts, or simple materials

  • Provide limited coordination support for communications related to events or activities

Note: Project support is ad hoc and will not be a primary function of this role.

  • Canva (content creation/design)

  • LinkedIn

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Newsletter platforms – desirable

  • Email communications

Key Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong written communication skills (clear, concise, audience‑appropriate)

  • Experience managing or supporting social media and communications

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Confidence using digital tools and platforms

Desirable

  • Experience in membership or stakeholder engagement

  • Familiarity with agriculture, rural communities, not for profits or social enterprises

  • Interest in disability inclusion or co‑design approaches

  • Experience using communcation platforms and design experience such as Canva
