Maddie Lovell - Nuveen Natural Capital Scholarship Recipient
We are thrilled to announce Maddie Lovell as a recipient of the Nuveen, a TIAA company Natural Capital Scholarship, proudly delivered in partnership with Ability Agriculture Foundation 🌾✨
Madeleine’s story is one of determination, resilience, and finding purpose through connection to agriculture. Growing up, she channelled her energy into music as a way to navigate life with ADHD and autism. But after completing high school and working through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as a Patient Support Officer at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, a trip to a friend’s hobby farm near Toowoomba completely changed her trajectory. Immersed in the farm lifestyle, she discovered a deep passion for agriculture, the people behind it, and the endless opportunities to make a difference. Within a year, she made the bold move to Toowoomba to start a new life in the industry.
Today, Madeleine works full-time in the pulses and grains industry while pursuing her agricultural studies at UNE. She thrives on the blend of hands-on fieldwork and business operations, driven by her goal to help farmers build sustainable, future-focused enterprises.
Reflecting on her journey, Madeleine shared:
“That one week on the farm changed everything. Agriculture gives me purpose, community, and the chance to help others in a way that feels meaningful. I’m so grateful for the support that’s helping me grow into a career I truly love.”
The Nuveen Scholarship recognises and supports persons in agriculture who embody inclusion, innovation, and commitment to positive change. Madeleine’s journey is a powerful example of how lived experience, passion, and perseverance can lead to incredible new opportunities in the agricultural industry.
Congratulations, Madeleine! We can’t wait to see how your career continues to grow.
