Introducing Our First Ability Agripreneur: Maddison Pearce - The Calf Trolley

We are thrilled to congratulate Maddison Pearce, our inaugural Ability Agripreneur!

Maddison, with her extensive experience in the dairy and research sectors, both on-farm and in management, developed the "Calf Trolley" to address a critical need in dairy farming: the safe and efficient handling of newborn calves.

Driven by a personal experience with an agricultural incident, Maddison recognized the physical strain and potential risks associated with manually lifting and carrying calves. The Calf Trolley is designed to significantly alleviate this burden for dairy workers, making calf collection safer and less strenuous during calving season.

The Ability Agriculture Agripreneur Scholarship will provide Maddison with invaluable support. She will connect with experienced engineering and business mentors to guide her through the product development process. This mentorship will assist Maddison in developing a comprehensive plan, considering factors such as manufacturing costs, potential applications beyond calf handling, and the potential for the Calf Trolley to benefit other farmers and agricultural operations.
